What makes you get addicted?

I found this an intresting topic: What is so addictive mmorpgs?
So decided to ask others opinions.


What do you find so addictive about mmorpgs like runescape and WoW?

I find it that the games are endless and you can NEVER actually win/end/finish like you could on a normal standard platformer, ALSO the fact that because it's endless there must be a no.1 so you strive for that goal and want it so bad However being no.1 is hard read the article on it, not like i have ever been no.1 xD. Some people just play on for fun and the adrenaline of putting all your work at risk, that is why so many people quit when wilderness was removed, IT GOT BORING. Quests do play a key part in keeping you 'HOOKED' to the game, Like i have said in previous articles i find it ridiculous how much some people get addicted so much to a game. It's like an online nicotine for somepeople you might say!

I think for me it's the constant updates, i'm constantly amazed by how much the game Runescape has grown over the past 5 years, we've gone from poorly rendered low pixel count characters to HD screens, from 12 skills to 24, and the quest content has quadrupled as has game content, makes me excited every time i log in
