Default guide not to get scammed when buying/selling pins - 09-30-2007, 05:28 PM

This is by no means a fool proof guide! Do not think its impossible to get scammed by following these!

When purchasing membership, don't show yourself as being desperate for membership. This makes the seller feel you would do anything to get membership and thus he scams you.

Before agreeing to buy membership check him on the scammer list or check if they were any reports against him if there were reports, I suggest you wait and see what happens, if the person is proved innocent go ahead with the deal.

NEVER buy from Credit Card sellers because once he pays for your membership he can gain access to your account.

Dont believe when the seller says things like im really trustable or ive never scammed anyone so you can trust me. Ignore these comments.

Keep a complete log of whats happening; take screen shots when necessary; even if people say the person is trustable, you might be the first person the seller is going to scam so dont completely trust anyone. Remember, this is a Runescape cheating community.

Make sure you have another account or friend you can completely trust to look after your items and have a duel log in client; the reason for this:

Most Important Thing: While you are being given membership make sure you are logged into runescape no matter what this way if you were scammed transfer all your items into another account using a dual login client or give it to a trusted friend. This ensures that the scammer gets absolutely nothing out of your account . Dont believe the seller if he says that he cant give you membership because you are logged in and you that you need to log out this simply means he wants to scam you.

Most sellers take the money first and then give membership, make sure your recoveries are set, change your password and give the account info to the seller ( This is the most important part; keep a log of the conversation) If the sellers offers to give membership first hes probably a scammer.

Most sellers sell memberships between 500k-1Mill If it is lower its usually a scam.

Use a an MM from the official MM list. Don't use an MM you don't know. Make sure that the MM has a good reputation on the forums.

Unfortunately if you get scammed, quickly go to the runescape website and try to get your account back my answering recoveries and posting all info about whats in the account. Then post all your evidence of the scam on the {report scammer thread}.
